Training
Linda’s initial training was at the Pilates Studio of Physical and Mental Body Conditioning (Studio) in New York City where she studied with master teacher, Romana Kryzanowska. After completing her certification in 1993, Linda worked for the Studio, training students on both the mat and apparatus. Soon after, she discovered she had a unique talent for describing and articulating the mat exercises to her students. Linda took this skill with her to the Equinox Health Clubs where she pioneered the Pilates Mat program, introducing the first mat class in the winter of 1995.
Conferences
Linda Farrell’s popularity and success as a Pilates Mat teacher have propelled her to the forefront in her field. Linda has conducted teacher-training workshops at major dance conferences such as Broadway Dance’s, The Pulse Annual Teacher Workshop and The Annual Dance Teacher Conference. She has also taught at fitness conferences, such as The Pilates Method Alliance, Pilatesstyle, The East Coast Alliance, and the Fitness Factory.
Education
Linda Farrell has developed her own educational programs, including a full LindaFit Pilates Mat Teacher Training Program, established in 2004, as well as workshops in Pilates Mat: Intermediate to Advanced Repetory, Magic Circle, Mini Ball, Stretch Band, LindaFit Mat Variations, and Basic Anatomy.
Professional Development
Since becoming Pilates certified in 1995, Linda has also received Pilates certification through the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and is a certified PMA teacher and educator. Linda’s interest in fitness and anatomy go beyond Pilates, as she has been an ACE certified Personal Trainer since 1994, received a Yoga certification through White Cloud in 2003, and has been studying ballet regularly since 1989. In 2020, Linda became a a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist through NASM.
Background
Linda earned her BA in Economics at the State University of N.Y. in Oneonta, and an MBA in Marketing from Baruch College, graduating magna cum laude from both institutions. She was a bond analyst for three years at Moody’s Investors Service, before pursuing her passion for movement and fitness and becoming a Pilates Instructor and Educator.
Commitment to Excellence
Linda studies kinethestic and neuromuscular antatomy with renowned teacher Irene Dowd of the Julliard School in New York City. Linda is also a regular participant and FAMbassador for fami workshops, an anatomy program administered through the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City.
